Rochdale really pushed on from last week in impressive style winning 6-0 away at South Lakes Mens 1s. The game started with Rochdale’s backs against the wall. But with Rochdale’s defensive line up of James Deacy in goal, Daniel Bowe, Andrew Borritt, Danny Ramsbottom and Jonathan Herreran South Lakes never looked like scoring. Time and time again the Rochdale back four made perfectly times challenges and picked off every South Lakes attack.

Twice in quick succession Rochdale turned defence in to attack with James Shepherd scoring each time, and he was unlucky not to get a first half hat trick with a third disallowed. As Rochdale began to pin South Lakes back in to their own half, Mark Eden managed to sneak up, unmarked from the Rochdale back four, latching on to a inch perfect ball from Herreran, he rounded the keeper and slotted the ball in to the empty net.

By now Rochdale were becoming dominant, with Michael Waddicor, Rob Lees and Kieran King taking control of the middle of the park and were unfortunate to go in at half time only 3-0 up.

After the break the game continued in the same vain with further Rochdale goals from Waddicor and a brace from Dave Gowers taking the final score to 6-0.

Captain Michael Waddicor “The whole team were great today, the work rate, attitude and team work were all excellent.”

The Oulder Hill Sports Complex Man of he Match went to James Shepherd.
