Rochdale 1s entered the game against Bury 1st with a trepidation. This was partly down to missing several players with several more caring injury’s.

Regardless of this Rochdale started well and were pressing high against a good bury side. Despite this Bury were hitting on the counter attack and causing problems of there own but the back four of Danny Bowe, Mark Eden,Johnny Herreran and Danny Ramsbottom stood firm. The game was very much in the balance with both teams attacking with intent.

However it was Rochdale who broke the deadlock with Michael Waddicor and Adam Massey linking up well with Massey finishing to put Rochdale 1 up. This spurred Rochdale on even more and after winning a second short corner of the game Eden and Barry Gumbley linked up to put Rochdale 2-0. With a well worked short corner.

At half time it was clear to see some Rochdale players were struggling and they would really need to dig deep to see out this game. Bury scored early in the second half but Rochdale we not to be denied, they not only stood firm but for the last 20 mins were by far the better team controlling the game and pegging bury back into there on half.

The score was to finish 2-1 this was a real team effort under difficult circumstances. Special mention must go to Kieran King and James Shepherd in the Rochdale midfield who worked tirelessly all game.

The Flying Horse Man of the Match went to Johnny Herreran
